Learning Journey:
Our innovative Learning Journey framework is designed to ignite curiosity and foster a deep understanding in children by allowing them to explore a key question that guides their learning experience. By focusing on a central question, children are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and explore various topics in depth. This exploration helps them develop essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, and creativity, all while making meaningful connections across different subject areas. our Continuous Provision offers children the opportunity to learn through hands-on, practical experiences. This means that while they are working towards understanding the key question, they are also developing their skills in a real-world context. Whether it's through creative play, collaborative projects, or independent exploration, children have the freedom to experiment, discover, and learn at their own pace.
Maths:
In maths, we will be building upon what the children learnt in the Robins class. Throughout the year, we will emphasize the importance of problem-solving, reasoning, and number fluency, while also encouraging curiosity and exploration. By revisiting and expanding on what they’ve already learned, your child will be able to consolidate their knowledge and build a strong mathematical foundation. Our goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every child feels confident to tackle new challenges, ask questions, and develop a genuine love for maths. We are excited to continue this journey with your child and look forward to seeing their growth and progress throughout the year.
Phonics:
Phonics is a vital skill that helps children unlock the world of reading by teaching them the relationship between sounds and letters. Through our daily lessons, your child will develop the ability to decode words, enabling them to read with confidence and understanding. To ensure consistency and steady progress, we run focused Phonics sessions every morning. This daily practice is crucial in helping children internalize the skills they need to become fluent readers. However, learning doesn’t stop at school. To further boost your child's reading skills, we highly encourage you to set aside at least 10 minutes every day for reading at home. This regular practice will reinforce what they’ve learned and help them develop a love for reading. If you would like additional support, I am more than happy to provide you with phonics videos that can guide you in helping your child at home. Together, we can ensure your child has all the tools they need to succeed in their reading journey.
PE Days:
Our PE days for Autumn 1, Spring 1 and Summer 1 is every Wednesday and Friday. For Autumn 2, Spring 2 and Summer 2, it is every Wednesday and Friday. I will remind parents on Class Dojo about this.
Please ensure that your child comes in with the correct PE kit – white t-shirt, black shorts/ leggings or jogging bottoms and trainers.

Outdoor Learning:
Our outdoor learning is on a Monday. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate clothing (water proof coat and wellies in the wetter and colder months, and sun cream and sun hat in the warmer, sunnier months). Our outdoor sessions enable the children to build upon vital skills such and allows them to unlock their creative side.
Homework:
The children are expected to read for at least 10 minutes every day. By reading with your child, it accelerates their progress as well as their confidence. We also have access to Numbots – a website that allows your child to practise their number bonds and adding and subtracting.
If you ever have any questions or worries, please do not hesitate to come and speak to me or Ms Andrews.
